6th Grade
Overview
In sixth grade, experience a warm, friendly classroom where students grow in spiritual, academic and social integrity. Throughout the year students experience a variety of activities designed to help them grow. In the Fall, we have a two day outdoor education opportunity and in the Spring we offer Electives. Field trips are incorporated to enhance the learning experience.

Language Arts
Writing
Students will learn the importance of writing for an audience by learning and practicing what it means to hook their readers into their writing (hook statements), and by maintaining focus in each body paragraph through creating strong topic sentences. Students will also practice the three different types of essay writing (expository, persuasive, and narrative), and complete a variety of creative writing assignments as well as a research paper.

Current Events
Beginning Spanish:
Beginning Spanish is designed to introduce students to elementary Spanish. This curriculum provides a basic understanding and use of Spanish words and phrases through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities.
